Field Notes for Becoming

A two-day workshop for teenagers on Identity, Belonging, and Becoming

What's this?

A creative, reflective and guided space for teenagers to slow down and begin exploring big questions about identity, relationships and navigating uncertainty. Together, we will start mapping the terrain of who we are and who we’re becoming.

What to expect?

We will spend two days beginning to respond to questions like:

  • Who am I and what shapes me? What is my relationship to myself?

  • How do I connect with others?

  • What do I know about this world that I inhabit? How does it affect me? How do I engage with it creatively?

On Day 1, we’ll begin with self-exploration: through creative and reflective activities that help us name the parts of ourselves that feel true. We’ll use drawing, movement, storytelling, and mapping our identities to get curious about who we are and how we see ourselves.

On Day 2, we’ll shift our lens outward: exploring how others see us, what they notice, and how that shapes our sense of self. We’ll explore identity in relationship and community and end the day weaving together what we’ve discovered and making space for each person to take something meaningful back into their life.

This is for you, if...

  • You are feeling the pressure of the world urgently asking you ‘Who are you? What do you want to do?’

  • You want to meet others your age asking similar questions.

  • You are seeking community while exploring aspects of your identity that are feeling difficult and isolating.
