At Tending Futures, we work in mycelial ways, drawing strength from the interconnectedness of nature, people, and stories. Below, you’ll find the core of what we do and what’s currently unfolding in each area:
Our Work
Growing Inner Roots With Young People:
Learning Spaces and Mentorship
We offer reflective and creative spaces for teenagers to feel seen and supported as they explore who they are and who they’re becoming.
What this includes:
Mentorship Program: A 9-month program guiding teens to find their strengths, test them through internships, and get the support in making the transition from high school to university easier.
Ongoing 1:1 Support: Personalised, non-therapy spaces where teens can speak freely, be heard deeply, and get support on the things they’re navigating — school, identity, relationships, purpose.
Creative Workshops: Short-term, theme-based workshops focused on writing, imagination, storytelling, and reflection.
Community Circles: Regular ongoing spaces that bring teens together around literature, film, music, and big questions.
Check our Upcoming Events section to stay up to date on workshops, mentorship opportunities, and other offerings for young people.
Nurturing Connection in Families:
Family & Intergenerational Work
We offer supportive, facilitated spaces for parents and teenagers to listen to each other, and learn the necessary tools to move through difficult conversations towards a shared reality as a way to strengthen their relationship. We also offer shared intergenerational learning spaces as ways of exchanging wisdom at important transition ages.
What this includes:
Facilitated Parent-Teen Conversations: 1:1 sessions that help parents and young people listen to one another with more understanding.
Intergenerational learning spaces: Short-term gatherings where teens and parents learn alongside each other, share perspectives, and connect across generations, especially during moments of change and transition.
If you’d like us to support a conversation between you and your teen, reach out to us at tendingfutures@gmail.com
Cultivating Relational Cultures in Education:
Cultural change and collective practice
Schools and other learning spaces often experience everyday conflicts and ruptures. When we are not in the practice of noticing and addressing them, they become too large to ignore and impact the entire community.
Restorative Practices offer ways to build everyday cultures of trust, nurture student leadership and accountability, so that repair is possible before disconnection takes root. We work with educators, schools and learning spaces to offer collaborative programs to embed restorative and relational practices within educational and community settings.
What this includes:
Introductory Workshops on Restorative Practices: Learning the core values and everyday tools that support relational cultures in schools.
Longer-Term Collaborations: Co-creating strategies and structures that help young people and educators feel more connected and supported.
Reading and Reflection Circles for Educators: Spaces to think together about the role of care, repair, and relationships in learning.
